Southern Score Builders' unit secures RM146.53 mil data centre electrical subcontract

PETALING JAYA (Aug 7): Southern Score Builders Bhd's 51%-owned subsidiary SJEE Engineering Sdn Bhd (SJEE) has secured a RM146.53 million subcontract to undertake medium-voltage electrical works for a data centre project.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Thursday (Aug 6), the construction group said SJEE had accepted a letter of award from a local construction company for the Electrical Package 3 Works (MV) subcontract, valued at RM146.53 million, excluding sales and service tax (SST), where applicable.

The filing did not identify the main contractor or the location of the data centre project, saying only that the subcontract was awarded by a local construction company.

Under the terms of the letter of award, the project's commencement date is July 27, 2026, with completion scheduled for Jan 15, 2028.

Southern Score Builders said the subcontract is not expected to have any immediate effect on its share capital, shareholding structure, net assets per share or gearing. However, it is expected to contribute positively to the group's net assets and earnings per share from the financial year ending June 30, 2027 until the project's completion.

The group said it does not foresee any exceptional risks beyond the normal operational risks associated with the subcontract and project, and will take the necessary steps to mitigate such risks as they arise.

It also said none of its directors, major shareholders or persons connected with them has any direct or indirect interest in the subcontract, which was entered into in the ordinary course of business and does not require shareholder or regulatory approval.

The board said the project is in the ordinary course of business and is in the best interests of the group.
