PETALING JAYA (Aug 7): NuEnergy Holdings Bhd (KL:NHB) has accepted a letter of award (LoA) worth approximately RM44.5 million for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for a proposed two-storey 265kV/11kV consumer landing station building for a data centre in the Johor Bahru district.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday (Aug 7), the group said the award was from a large construction and engineering company headquartered in China. The company did not identify the awarder.
The project is targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.
NuEnergy said the LoA is expected to contribute positively to its earnings and net assets per share for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026.
The group said the LoA supports its strategic expansion into the extra-high-voltage (EHV) and transmission line sector, particularly for data centre projects.
It described the job as its largest high-voltage project to date and said successful execution would validate the group's technical capability and execution capacity in delivering complex EHV infrastructure projects for the data centre segment.
NuEnergy said the LoA is expected to strengthen its order book, revenue and profitability, while enhancing its track record in the EHV sector and positioning the group to pursue larger transmission, power infrastructure and other high-voltage projects.
The group said none of its directors, major shareholders or persons connected to them has any direct or indirect interest in the LoA. Accordingly, the transaction is not a related-party transaction.
The board said it was of the opinion that accepting the LoA is in the best interests of the group.
