PETALING JAYA (Aug 21): Sunway Construction Group Bhd (SunCon) has secured work orders worth a combined RM1.044 billion from a US-headquartered multinational technology company for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works for two projects.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday (Aug 21), the construction group said its wholly owned subsidiary, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, accepted the work orders on Aug 21. The company did not disclose the customer’s identity or the locations of the projects.
The works are scheduled to commence immediately and are expected to be completed by March 2028.
SunCon said the contracts are not expected to have an immediate material effect on earnings per share, net assets per share or gearing for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2026 (FY2026).
However, barring unforeseen circumstances, the works are expected to contribute positively to the group’s earnings from FY2026 onwards.
The latest awards bring SunCon’s new orders secured in FY2026 to RM6.85 billion, including the RM1.044 billion work orders.
SunCon said the works are subject to normal construction-related risks, including material-price fluctuations, but expects these to be mitigated by its experience in construction and data-centre development projects.
