PETALING JAYA (Aug 28): Gamuda Bhd has secured two build-only construction awards worth a combined RM3.57 billion for the construction of two hyperscale data centres in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan.
The infrastructure and construction group said the contracts were awarded by a multinational technology company headquartered in the United States. The client was not identified.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Friday (Aug 28), Gamuda said the awards were made to its wholly owned subsidiary Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd (GESB) on the same day.
The first award, worth RM1.79 billion, involves the construction of a single-storey hyperscale data centre. Work is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, with completion targeted for the third quarter of 2028.
The second award, valued at RM1.78 billion, is also for a single-storey hyperscale data centre. Construction is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2026 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.
GESB's scope of works for both facilities comprises site infrastructure works, building core-and-shell construction, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works.
Gamuda said the two awards are expected to contribute positively to the group's revenue and earnings for the financial year ending July 31, 2027 (FY2027) and until completion of the projects.
The group said the projects are subject to normal construction risks, including material-price fluctuations, which it intends to mitigate through its experience and expertise in undertaking construction projects.
None of Gamuda's directors, major shareholders or persons connected with them has any direct or indirect interest in the projects, it added.
