KPKT urges homebuyers to check developers on TEDUH before buying

PETALING JAYA (Sept 7): The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) has urged prospective homebuyers to check developers and housing projects through its TEDUH portal before committing to a purchase.

The ministry said in a press release on Monday (Sept 7) that the portal, developed through the National Housing Department (JPN), provides information on private housing developments, including developers’ licence status, advertising and sales permits (APDL) and project progress.

Through its #TEDUHBersama campaign, KPKT said it wants to encourage a “check before you buy” practice among prospective purchasers, particularly to reduce the risk of dealing with unlicensed developers or buying without knowing a project’s status.

As at August, TEDUH had recorded more than 45 million visits since its launch on Aug 11, 2017, including 269,179 visits in August alone, KPKT said.

“Buying a home is one of the biggest financial commitments in a person’s life,” JPN director-general Dr Tan Awang Besar (pictured) said.

“We want people to make it a habit to ‘check before buying’ by verifying the developer’s status, licence, APDL and project progress through TEDUH before making any decision.

“This simple step is important in helping buyers obtain accurate information, make decisions with greater confidence and reduce the risk of encountering problems later,” he added.

KPKT said TEDUH also provides information on the progress and classification of private housing projects, including those categorised as delayed, sick or abandoned.

Users can also check approved selling-price information for relevant housing projects and certain government approvals, including extensions of time (EOT), as well as information related to the verification of documents, according to the ministry.

The portal also provides access to information on public housing programmes and services, including integration with the National Housing Management System (SPRN) for applications under the People’s Housing Programme (PPR).

It also carries information on PR1MA, Syarikat Perumahan Negara Bhd (SPNB), Perumahan Penjawat Awam Malaysia (PPAM) and Residensi Wilayah housing schemes, as well as eligibility requirements for the Housing Loan Scheme (SPP).

The ministry said TEDUH was further upgraded on Nov 20, 2025, with improvements to its interface, design, user experience and the information provided on developers and housing projects.

KPKT advised prospective buyers not to rely solely on advertisements, promotions or third-party information before purchasing a property, and to check developer and project information through TEDUH as an official KPKT source.
