According to group chairman Datuk Muhammad Nawawi Mohd Arshad, the rebranding follows the group’s affiliation with Singapore-based Edmund Tie & Company (SEA) Pte Ltd and Thailand-based Edmund Tie & Company (Thailand) Co Ltd.
Established in 2000, the Nawawi Tie Leung group was part of the regional DTZ Debenham Tie Leung (SEA) Pte Ltd, which was in turn part of the wider DTZ network of companies.
Its rebranding and operation under new company names follows DTZ Debenham Tie Leung’s own relaunch as Edmund Tie & Company (SEA) Pte Ltd in Singapore on July 1.
“We have decided to pursue an independent path in affiliation with Edmund Tie & Company whom we have been working closely with ever since we started the Malaysian practice,” he said.
He noted that both firms share similar corporate values of trust, integrity, collaboration and reciprocity underpinned by a responsible and professional practice that combines exceptional service with long-term sustainability.
Managing director Eddy Wong said the re-branding exercise would not have any substantial impact to the group.
“In fact, we will be able to tap on fresh opportunities decisively and quickly with a nimbleness that comes with this new independence, and that is something that we will look forward to,” he added.
Wong said together with Edmund Tie & Company (SEA) Pte Ltd in Singapore and Edmund Tie & Company (Thailand) Co Ltd in Thailand, the Nawawi Tie Leung group fields some 500 professionals across Southeast Asia, and offers a comprehensive range of services.
“Negotiations are ongoing with several major commercial real estate services firms in the US, which will give the group a global reach and a comprehensive suite of integrated property services worldwide,” he added.
Wong will continue to serve the group as managing director as well as helm the residential team.
The firm will continue to be led by Muhammad Nawawi as chairman.
The other co-founders and executive directors of the group — Ungku Suseela and Brian Koh — will helm the retail consultancy team and the investment department. Koh will also oversee the consulting and research functions.
Other key directors in the team include Daniel Ma (valuation), Saleha Yusoff (consulting and research), Yasmine Mohd Zamirdin (business space) and Chris Lee (property and facility management).
The Nawawi Tie Leung is involved in numerous developments, including Vista Tower, Integra Tower, Menara CIMB, Gurney Resort Hotel, Northam Hotel, Pavilion Residences, Binjai on the Park, Panorama, Infiniti Residences, Nu Sentral, Gurney Paragon, Publika and Kwasa Damansara.
