OSK Property

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 1): OSK Property Holdings Bhd has teamed up with the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water’s GreenTech Malaysia Alliances Sdn Bhd and Kloth Lifestyle Sdn Bhd to produce its new company uniform using recycled plastic bottles, the developer said in a recent statement.

OSK Property’s new uniforms are made out of 40% recycled polyester and 60% organic cotton — saving 8.5 500ml plastic bottles for every shirt produced.

The regenerated polyester fibre that is made from recycled plastic bottles are environmentally friendly, cost-effective and safe to use, and the fibre performs as well as 100% virgin polyester, it said.

According to OSK Property, this exercise is a continuation of the company’s branding exercise after merging with PJ Development Holdings Bhd (PJD) last year.

“As a developer, we often ask ourselves what we can do to be more innovative and to play our part as a socially responsible company. We are fortunate to have met GreenTech Malaysia Alliances and Kloth Lifestyle and we are proud to be a part of the initiative to develop corporate uniforms using recycled plastic bottles,” said OSK Property CEO Ong Ghee Bin.

“We hope that this will mark the beginning of OSK Property’s sustainability journey and we hope to be able to adopt more green technologies in our operations and developments moving forward,” he added.

The property developer is also the first in Malaysia to receive a partnership programme certificate from GreenTech Malaysia Alliances for its effort in supporting sustainable corporate transformation under the waste management initiative.

“The fabric is the perfect choice for OSK Property’s use be it in the office or construction site, due to its sustainability and durability qualities. This is a significant step for OSK Property in its effort to cultivate eco-friendly and sustainable technology not only internally but also to implement high Green Building Index (GBI) standards into its developments,” said the developer.
