KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 22): Genting Group is among six bidders for a casino project in Toronto, Canada, according to a New York Post report.

New York Post, quoting sources, reported that other bidders included Caesars Entertainment.

"Toronto voted in July 2015 to approve a casino with live table games if it included an entertainment complex. At least two development sites in the city are under consideration.

"The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp expects to announce a winner late next summer, it said. The Genting Group, which runs Resorts World in the Aqueduct complex, is also interested, a source said," New York Post reported.

According to New York Post, Genting Group did not return calls seeking comments on the Toronto project.

Genting Group via Genting Malaysia Bhd already has operations in the US. Genting Malaysia's website indicates that the company runs the Resorts World Casino New York City at the Aqueduct Racetrack site.

At Bursa Malaysia, Genting Malaysia shares settled unchanged at 12:30pm at RM4.36 for a market value of RM24.72 billion. The stock saw 453,900 shares traded. — theedgemarkets.com
