Setia Precast

PETALING JAYA (Sept 26): Setia Precast Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of S P Setia Bhd, has won the Industrialised Building System (IBS) Special Award for its construction of Seri Jati affordable apartments in Setia Alam.

The IBS Award was presented at the Malaysia Construction Industry Excellence Awards (MCIEA) 2016 organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), S P Setia said in a statement.

Based on S P Setia’s understanding, the award is awarded to those who meet several criteria, including quality workmanship with high IBS score, innovative construction management with minimisation of construction wastage, cleanliness and high safety level, efficient usage of materials and labour, and completion within schedule.

“We are greatly honoured to be receiving this award as the MCIEA is the most credible and respectable award in the construction industry. To win in this category for our affordable apartment project speaks volumes for our commitment towards excellence in delivering quality products,” said S P Setia executive vice president Kow Choong Ming.

“S P Setia’s affordable apartments in Setia Alam as well as Setia EcoHill in Semenyih are constructed using the precast construction system as we can ensure consistent quality with little defects thus reducing rectification costs and inconveniences.

“Besides, this system also uses less labour as most of the structural components can be prefabricated off site,” the company added.

Other affordable apartments in Setia Alam that were built using this system are Seri Baiduri, Seri Intan, Seri Kasturi, Seri Mutiara and Seri Pinang.

Kow added that the developer is looking into using the same system of construction for D’Camellia apartments located at its Setia EcoHill township in Semenyih, which will be launched on Oct 1.
