PETALING JAYA (Oct 20): IOI Properties Group Bhd will be carrying out the expansion and upgrading of the Bandar Puteri Puchong interchange to improve traffic flow at the township.

The expansion and upgrading works, which are expected to be completed by 2018, will be wholly funded and constructed by IOI Properties at the cost of RM20 million, said its chief operating officer Teh Chin Guan at the ground-breaking ceremony today.

The ceremony was officiated by Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo. Also present were Kinrara state assemblyman Ng Sze Han, Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) deputy president Mohd Zulkurnain and MPSJ Councillor Stephen Chin.

The works will be conducted in two stages to minimise disruption. Stage A would be the widening of the road shoulder at Lebuh Puteri fronting Citibank and Giant Hypermarket.

"We are building an additional lane without affecting traffic on the existing two lanes," said Teh. Stage A is expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year.

Meanwhile, Stage B is expected to commence from the first quarter of next year to the second quarter of 2018 and comprises the building of a new 600m-long-ramp to lead traffic from the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) into Lebuh Puteri.

In conjunction with the upgrading works in Stage B, an existing ramp from LDP to Bandar Puteri and the U-turn underneath the Bandar Puteri interchange will be closed. Motorists from Putrajaya to Bandar Puteri can turn right at the Puchong Perdana traffic light junction and proceed to Jalan PPU/1, while motorists from Shah Alam, Putra Heights and USJ can make a left turn at the same traffic light junction and proceed to Jalan PPU/1 or U-turn in front of Tesco Puchong.

Teh said the upgrading project will improve the quality of life of the Puchong community and ease traffic congestion when it is completed in 2018.

The interchange currently serves the 1,000-acre Bandar Puteri Puchong township with a population of an estimated 11,500 residents and a business hub of about 600 shop offices and offices at the Puchong Financial Corporate Centre and a hotel, Four Points by Sheraton Puchong.

"With an enhanced infrastructure serving the township, we also foresee greater value appreciation of the properties in Bandar Puteri Puchong," he added.
