KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 28): The Selangor government’s housing policy will not succeed in controlling the price of homes in the state, said Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Tan Sri Noh Omar, Bernama reported yesterday.

He said the Selangor government requires developers to allocate 30% of their projects for the building of affordable homes, but no subsidy is given to them to reduce the cost of constructing the houses.

Noh was answering a supplementary question by Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (BN-Setiu) on the action and role by the government in controlling the price of houses during the Ministers' Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday, Bernama reported.

Noh explained that the federal government has a subsidy system where financial aid via the Myhome scheme and Mydeposit was given for first-time homebuyers.
