The Datai Langkawi

PETALING JAYA (Nov 25): Luxury resort The Datai Langkawi will be closed for 10 months to embark on an extensive renovation from Sept 4, 2017.

According to a statement, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels, the manager of the resort, has appointed renowned interior designer Didier Lefort of Didier Lefort Architectes Associés to undertake the renovation. Lefort was responsible for the original designs when the resort was launched in 1993 along with Australian architect Kerry Hill.

Established by Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels is an investment holding company incorporated to develop, manage and operate hospitality and attraction destinations.

The works will include renovations to the resort’s guestrooms, suites and villas; the construction of a Nature Centre; additional spa pavilions; a refreshed retail space; and a fitness centre by the beach, as well as an overall enhancement of the landscaping.

Lefort will be leading the renovation programme and will oversee the overall design concept including managing the structure of the additional spa villas and new fitness centre by the beach as well as the remodelling of the interiors of the guestrooms, suites and villas.

In order to fully execute and expedite the extensive renovation, The Datai Langkawi will be closed for about 10 months. Renovation is scheduled to be completed in mid-2018, said Arnaud Girodon, general manager of the resort.

“This renovation is a testament to The Datai Langkawi’s commitment to providing unmatched luxury accommodation, the highest level of service, and modern amenities that appeal to today’s luxury global travellers,” he said, adding that the renovation project will signify the resort’s most substantial enhancement project since its inception 23 years ago.

“Temporarily closing the resort will allow us to complete this refurbishment as quickly as possible and allow our guests to return to our island paradise in mid-2018”, he explained.

Upon completion of the project, Girodon said the refreshed look and feel of the resort is set to personify the resort’s signature luxury hideaway that distinctively reaffirms The Datai Langkawi as Malaysia’s most sought-after destination with an unrivalled luxury experience.

Situated on the northwest tip of Langkawi island, The Datai Langkawi offers 54 well-appointed rooms, 42 rainforest villas, 12 suites and 14 beach villas with views of the surrounding nature.
