IKEA supports children’s development through ‘Let’s Play for Change’ campaign

PETALING JAYA (Nov 25): Swedish home furnishing company IKEA wants to create public awareness towards children’s development and learning through its global “Let’s Play for Change” campaign.

In a statement today, IKEA Malaysia said the IKEA Foundation will donate €1 (approximately RM4.60) to children’s charity organisations, from the sale of every children’s toy, book, game, art and craft as well as play furniture under the IKEA Play range, from now until Dec 24, 2017.

These organisations include War Child, Save the Children, UNICEF, Room to Read, Handicap International and Special Olympics.

The Let’s Play for Change campaign will specifically focus on children’s rights to play and develop, highlighting the benefits of play for all children.

“At IKEA, we believe that playing is a key part of life development, making us more creative, stronger and more active. As an organisation dedicated to creating a better life at home, it is part of our job to inspire and enable people to play more together,” said IKEA Malaysia.

Besides the Let’s Play for Change campaign, IKEA Malaysia is also harnessing the power of giving through its “Give Twice” initiative.

Every children’s product dropped into the “Give Twice” boxes will be donated to the Association of Registered Childcare Providers Malaysia, and will be distributed among their beneficiaries.

Customers can also proceed to the Exchanges and Returns counter if they would like to donate play furniture.
