Overview

Fast developing into a hotspot for the trendy, Bangsar South (or Kerinchi) features posh office suites for the established as well as upcoming companies. The integrated city development address has been a focus of Klang Valley’s property seekers in recent years.

Originally, it is a rural enclave called Kampung Kerinchi. Its potential for development was not realised until UOA Holdings Bhd acquired a 60-acre piece of land there in 2005. Development went into full throttle after long term plans were made in 2007 to upgrade this area into an exclusive commercial and residential hub. Since then, this prime piece of real estate has never looked back with other well-known developers such as Suezcap Capital Sdn Bhd, Weida Properties Sdn Bhd and KL Eco City Sdn Bhd coming into the mix.

The developments themselves, like Nexus@Bangsar South, Connexion@Nexus, Carmella Service Suites@Nexus, as well as the many office blocks and towers, are medium to high in density – with wide open spaces and ample greenery.

Improved connectivity has seen Bangsar South accessible by Jalan Kerinchi that links to Jalan Pantai Baharu, Federal Highway and Sprint Highway and Kerinchi Link; or by Jalan Pantai Permai connected to the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) and Jalan Kerinchi too. This means that other major areas such as Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), Brickfields, Mont’Kiara and Bukit Damansara are easily reachable.

LRT stations like Universiti and Kerinchi are within walking distance from this area while complimentary shuttle services caters to visitors, dwellers and workers alike within Bangsar South’s area. Additionally, there is a pedestrian bridge that links Bangsar South across the Federal Highway into Kerinchi LRT station.

Prime location

Developments in Bangsar South are mostly transit-oriented developments (TOD). They are surrounded by many Grade A office towers and high-rise residences. This has led to the area being a prime choice for expatriates. Tech firms such as Alibaba, Honeywell and Razer have chosen to set up office here as well. Meanwhile, the average rental and selling prices for properties in Bangsar South has seen capital appreciation over the years. Experts agree that Bangsar South has a lot of potential to flourish in the future, with demand for office spaces in the area to remain resilient. In August 2019, an office unit in The Vertical Office Suites was rented out for RM14,000 a month. The tenant liked the size of the unit and Bangsar South as it is a hub for tech start-ups and businesses.

Amenities and Facilities

As a prime commerical hub, Bangsar South has no shortage of dining options with many restaurants and cafes choosing to set up shop there. A notable unique offering -- The Farm Foodcraft -- a hybrid dining concept, farm-to-table restaurant, a lounge, a private event venue and an urban farming laboratory under the same roof in The Sphere. The restaurant was featured on EdgeProp's lifestyle magazine, Live! 2020.

Besides those currently established in Bangsar South itself, there are many more amenities and facilities in the neighbouring areas like Petaling Jaya and Bangsar townships.  The former is a short drive away only with PJ Section 11, 12, 13 and 14 are also conveniently close by, all of which provide even more restaurants, banks, retail shops, public and private facilities and services.

Schools like SK Bukit Pantai and SMK Seri Pantai, and Universiti Malaya are all also in the vicinity of Bangsar South. Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) and Pantai Hospital KL are just a short distance away while three police stations and a Pantai Fire and Rescue Station are within 4 to 8 minutes’ drive away.

MidValley City, with its megamall and The Garden’s Shopping Mall, is only 3 to 4 minutes’ drive away, where a myriad of facilities and amenities exist.
