AMPANG (Dec 23): The approval for the acquisition of the Highland Towers site for redevelopment will not happen by this year, but on Jan 8.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin said in her meet-up with Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari on Monday, he said the Selangor government would bring up the issue in his meeting with the Selangor Economic Action Council on Jan 8.

“And it (the acquisition) will be approved on Jan 8,” Zuraida was reported saying by Free Malaysia Today today.

Last weekend, Amirudin said his administration received the letter from the ministry last month and said the approval would take between three and four months because it involved various parties such as the land office and related agencies.

In Aug 2018, Zuraida had proposed for the infamous site at Taman Hillview, Ulu Klang to be redeveloped as a recreational park, as its soil structure was discovered to be unsuitable for housing.
