Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim ups Berjaya Assets stake

KUALA LUMPUR (April 10): The Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar raised his stake in Berjaya Assets Bhd (BAssets) to 11.14%, comprising 285 million shares, after he bought 2.5 million shares on the open market recently.

In a statement with Bursa Malaysia yesterday, BAssets said Sultan Ibrahim acquired 900,000 shares on March 30, 2018. In April, he acquired two million and 1.6 million shares respectively on April 4 (Wednesday) and April 5 (Thursday).

According to BAssets' website, the developer of the Berjaya Times Square here also owns Natural Avenue Sdn Bhd, which is a number forecast operator in Sarawak. In Johor Bahru, BAssets owns the Berjaya Waterfront Hotel and Ferry Terminal, the website indicated.

At Bursa Malaysia today, BAssets shares settled at 41.5 sen, for a market value of RM1.06 billion. The stock saw 763,400 shares traded. — theedgemarkets.com
