UEM

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 3): UEM Sunrise Bhd will celebrate 50 years of community building and delivering by offering 300 homes with prices as low as RM293,000.

The campaign will run from Aug 6 to mid-September and involve seven projects located in Cyberjaya and Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

The properties in Iskandar Puteri are Teega Puteri Harbour, Almas Puteri Harbour, Estuari, Bayu Angkasa and Residensi Ledang, while those in Cyberjaya are Verdi Eco-dominiums and Symphony Hills.

“These units will be made available on Aug 6 and it will be for a limited time only. The special rebate under this campaign is as much as 37% to 38%, depending on property type and project,” said UEM Sunrise chief marketing officer Kenny Wong at the campaign media briefing today.

Meanwhile, UEM Sunrise managing director and CEO Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib said the campaign will have an impact on the company’s profit margin but it will be managed.

“We will manage the impact to make sure it is minimised. Yes, it will have an impact, and we are ready to sacrifice it, but that's fine with us as long as the buyers appreciate our effort of building the community and give back to the community,” said Anwar.

He added that the campaign will also help UEM Sunrise to achieve its RM1.2 billion 2018 sales target.

“One of the reasons for this campaign is to make sure we can achieve the RM1.2 billion sales target. We are pretty much on track now, we have achieved around 60% to 70% so far,” he said, adding that the company is comfortable with the sales target.

Anwar is optimistic about the real estate industry moving forward as the group has seen better sales performance in the first half of the year.

“We did better [sales] in the first half. We saw higher loan approval in the first half as well. We feel the market is coming back with more excitement. However, people are still cautious,” he noted.

Anwar also does not expect the Sales and Services Tax to significantly influence the property market when it comes online in early September.

As for the recent staff movements at Khazanah, he feels that it will not impact UEM Sunrise.

“No, we are not worried about that because we are professional. We are reporting and answering to our own board while Khazanah is a different entity of the government. They invested in UEM Sunrise and other companies as well. There is very clear corporate governance in place for us,” Anwar said.
