KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6): It looks like the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) (pictured) has already started a probe on the redevelopment of Taman Rimba Kiara (TRK) by the previous administration.

A source has told The Malaysian Insight that: “I do not want to name anyone. But I just want to say that investigation papers have been opened.

*TTDI residents: Why still no action taken against Tengku Adnan over Taman Rimba Kiara?

“All parties who are involved will be called in to have their statements recorded.”

There was a strong call by the residents of Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) over the weekend for action against former FT minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor over his involvement in the planned development of TRK.

“What are PH (Pakatan Harapan) and the Federal Territories Ministry doing about Ku Nan?

“Isn’t (there enough) to show a conflict of interest (in order to take action). What is happening?” Save Taman Rimba Kiara (STRK) coordinator Leon Koay told the news portal.

Tengku Adnan is currently facing two charges of receiving RM3 million in bribes linked to another  development in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur but no action has still been brought against him over the proposed development in Taman Rimba Kiara.

As FT minister, Tengku Adnan controlled Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) while being the chairman of Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP).

It was reported that under the previous BN government, the land title for Taman Rimba Kiara was transferred to YWP.

The latter then started a joint venture project with Memang Perkasa Sdn Bhd to construct eight blocks of 42- to 54-storey high-end serviced apartments to be known as Pavilion Taman Tun and a 29-storey block of 350 units of affordable housing. DBKL approved the project.

TTDI residents had been protesting against the proposed high-rise development project in the park for the past two years, even calling for the park to be gazetted as public space to prevent development from taking place.
