KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 4): Ninety six out of 97 dubious Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) land transactions have been settled through negotiations, Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad was reported saying by The Star on Saturday.

He said the only party left “has refused to negotiate and said they would sue DBKL for not allowing them to begin construction despite having an approved development order (DO), but there is no news on it yet”.

“The land was sold at RM40 million despite the market value of RM120 million.

“Despite having only a slim chance of winning the case as DBKL approved the DO, we still need to fight, as the land was sold at a much lower value,” Khalid told the daily.

“Hopefully, the court will acknowledge the unfairness,” he added.

The report also said that the other cases “have been settled through negotiations with many forms of compensation involved”.

It was reported last September that a special task force probed 97 dubious transactions of 675.27 acres of DBKL land worth RM5.63 billion.

In October last year, Khalid said: “The review of the 97 dubious land deals is now completed and the report will be submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for further investigation on corruption cases.”
