Guan Eng : Malaysian consulate building in HK gets RM1.68b buy offer

KUALA LUMPUR (April 3): Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng revealed today the offer letter from an interested party to acquire a building in Hong Kong that houses the Consulate-General of Malaysia's office for RM1.68 billion.

In a press conference at the Parliament lobby here today, Lim, who did not reveal the identity of the interested party, said the offer could be higher when the Malaysian government conducts an open tender for the sale of the building along Glouchester Road in Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

"Currently, before open tender, we already got RM1.68 billion. I think once the tender is opened we can get higher. There are many offers, this is the highest so far.

"They (interested parties) know that we want to practise open tender, so they wrote in to us. We will do it through a real estate specialist company to conduct the open tender," Lim said.
