Ramada by Wyndham Meridin hotel in JB officially opens

JOHOR BAHRU (Oct 16): Mah Sing Group Bhd’s Ramada by Wyndham Meridin hotel here held its grand opening yesterday. Located at Iskandar Puteri, the four-star hotel is the centrepiece of Mah Sing’s development in Meridin@Medini.

Ramada by Wyndham Meridin is operating under a franchise agreement between Mah Sing and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. This is Mah Sing’s first foray into the hospitality sector.

Featuring 644 rooms, the hotel has the highest room count in South East Asia under the Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

The hotel is 700m away from the Legoland theme park, and is close to various attraction destinations such as Puteri Harbour and Iskandar Malaysia Studio. A shuttle service is provided to transport guests to Legoland and Puteri Harbour.

It takes a 25-minute drive from Ramada by Wyndham Meridin to the CIQ Johor Bahru and a 15- minute drive to the CIQ Second Link.

“We established the Ramada by Wyndham Meridin as we saw an opportunity to cater to travellers to Iskandar Malaysia, whether to enjoy the entertainment the state has to offer or to explore the vast opportunities that Johor has either for work or investment,” said Mah Sing’s founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.

Since its soft opening in July 2018, the hotel has seen encouraging response from local and foreign leisure travellers, with the majority arriving from China, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, South Korea and Singapore.

“We have garnered good occupancy rates from both business and leisure travellers since our soft launch last year,” said Mah Sing CEO Datuk Ho Hon Sang.

The hotel features an outdoor swimming pool, wading pool, aqua gym, indoor and outdoor fitness centre, a kid’s play area, surau, spa, and the WYN lounge. Meeting planners can choose from five flexible function rooms accommodating up to 350 guests, plus an expansive ballroom, all supported by audio-visual technology.

In conjunction with its grand opening, the hotel is offering special room rates at RM500 nett for a four-day, three-night stay, which includes breakfast. The special room rates will be available throughout the month of October.
