The Star reported today that Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) president Datuk Abdul Hamid Hussain has ordered the architect and consultant engineer involved in the construction of the house near the retaining wall “to submit a report to the council”.

Initial reports revealed that the house was built in 2008 “with the necessary approvals from MPAJ”.

"The SDMU (Selangor Disaster Management Unit), along with representatives from the Public Works Department (JKR) slope unit, Gombak district land office, MPAJ, Fire and Rescue Department, as well as Mineral and Geoscience Department held a meeting shortly after the incident.

"We will have to carry out an inspection before any action is taken. For now, residents of the affected house and their neighbours have been advised to evacuate from the area as a precautionary measure," he was reported saying by the daily.

Abdul Hamid added that one option being considered to fix the situation was “to use the soil nailing technique to stabilise and reinforce the slope”.
