• Taking a walk around TRX, we have discovered several stand-out features that make TRX a model of sustainable urban planning:

KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 31): As we celebrate World Cities Day today, let’s zoom in on how a sustainable city is created through purposeful urban design.

As we explore on foot to shine a light on the many ways our nation’s capital city Kuala Lumpur is transforming to become more inclusive and connected, the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) stands out as an exemplary showcase of thoughtful urban planning.

TRX is designed around core placemaking strategies that prioritise pedestrians and connectivity. Its pedestrian-centered design makes moving around easier and more convenient, while Raintree Plaza, its gateway to the Bukit Bintang shopping belt, offers a place for community engagement and relaxation.

TRX is also the most connected district in KL, seamlessly linked to all major rail lines.

Let’s take a walk together to explore the several features that stand out to make TRX a model of sustainable urban planning:

As we have discovered on foot, by prioritising pedestrians and connectivity, TRX encourages residents and visitors to walk, bike, and take public transportations, which reduces air pollution and traffic congestion. The development's focus on placemaking also creates vibrant and liveable spaces that foster community interaction.

The area will soon become the next shopping, dining, leisure and entertainment destination, with The Exchange TRX’s retail component opening its doors this coming Nov 29. A joint-venture development between Lendlease and TRX City Sdn Bhd, The Exchange TRX’s shopping mall already has an occupancy rate of 95% and over 400 stores spread across 1.3 million sq ft of net lettable area.
