ALOR SETAR (May 14): The Alor Setar City Council is offering investment opportunities to local and foreign companies to develop the state.

Alor Setar Mayor Datuk Mat Noh Ahmad said the offer is to increase the council's revenue and to bolster Alor Setar's image as a city.

He said there are many properties and strategic buildings in the council area whose potentials have not been fully realised.

"These untapped properties have not yielded the real returns to the council. Hence, the council is extending investment opportunities to whoever intending to invest.

"Proceeds from the investments will be channelled to the council to enable us to improve services and facilities to the people in the council area.

"Kedah has a new landmark in Aman Central and I hope this will spur more investors to invest," he said.

Investors keen to work with the council to develop the areas under its purview can contact the council's office at 04-7332499, he added. — Bernama
