KUALA LUMPUR: GTower Sdn Bhd's GTower Hotel has bagged six awards at the recent Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards 2010-2012 (HAPA) and two awards at the Malaysia Interior Design Awards 2010 (MIDA) recently.

The company said on Thursday, Dec 16 that GTower Hotel — previously known as The G City Club Hotel —won HAPA's Best Independent Hotel, Best Boutique Hotel or Resort, Most Unique F&B Concept for Bridge Bar, Best Western Cuisine Chef and Best Concierge Department.

GTower Hotel is the first fully-certified green hotel by Singapore's Building & Construction Authority (Green Mark Gold Standard). Among green features are the use of energy efficient lighting, and an eco-friendly pool that uses salt to ensure good water quality and harnessing waste energy from the air-conditioning system to heat water for the pool and showers.

During the MIDA 2010, it won in the Best Hospitality and Best Interior Builders Category.

GTower Sdn Bhd executive director Colin Ng said they did not expect to win, being such a new property in town. "GTower Hotel's strong finishing at HAPA leads me to believe that this is the first of many more to come, and serves as an encouragement to continue growing and building the GTower Hotel brand to its full potential."

Following HAPA, the hotel was renamed to the GTower Hotel. Ng said the rebranding exercise was necessary in order to create a seamless brand unity and identity, which complimented the rest of the GTower, which comprises offices, a club, private gym and F&B outlets.

HAPA is organised by World Asia Publishing, the publisher of Hospitality Asia, while MIDA is an annual award by Institut Perekabentuk Dalaman Malaysia (Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers).
