KUALA LUMPUR: A winding-up petition has been served on Ho Hup Construction Company Bhd subsidiary Bukit Jalil Development Sdn Bhd (BJD) by Hew Hoi Lan @ Kew Hoi Lam.

The winding-up petition dated July 12 was served to BJD on July 28 and the winding-up petition was presented to the High Court of Malaya at Kuala Lumpur on July 12, Ho Hup said on Thursday, July 29.

The winding-up petition shall be heard at the High Court on September 23.

Hew had claimed against BJD a total of RM137,268.80, at an interest rate of 8% per annum on the said principal sum from 10 July 2008 until full and final settlement and costs.

Ho Hup said BJD did not pay the amount claimed as it was pursuing an amicable settlement with Hew, leading to the filing of the winding-up petition.

“The group is taking steps to reach an amicable settlement with the petitioner and requested the petitioner to withdraw the winding-up petition. In view thereof, the directors of the company do not envisage that the winding-up petition will have significant impact on the group, financially or operationally,” it said.

The group''s cost of investment in BJD is RM10.5 million.
