KUALA LUMPUR: Ireka Corporation Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Ireka Engineering and Construction Vietnam Co Ltd has been awarded a contract by Vietnam-based Hoa Lam-Shangri-La Healthcare LLC for a construction job worth RM27.58 million.

In a filling to Bursa Malaysia on Monday, Feb 7, Ireka said that the project is for the construction and completion of a structure works package for the proposed City International Hospital at Hi-Tech Healthcare Park (IHHP) project in Ho Chi Minh City, and shall be completed by Sept 30, 2011.

This contract will bring Ireka's current order book to about RM800 million, of which approximately RM430 million remains outstanding. Ireka states that the contract is expected to contribute positively to its earnings for the financial year ending March 31, 2012.

Meanwhile, in a separate press release, Ireka group managing director Lai Siew Wah said the general hospital is part of the 92.76-acre IHHP project, which will consist of world-class private hospitals and mixed commercial, hospitality and residential developments.

"This is a significant milestone for the group, as it marks Ireka's maiden construction foray into Vietnam. Ireka has built on its experience in infrastructure, building and civil engineering works, and is now ready to export its skills and know-how to Vietnam," he said.
