SHANGHAI (Feb 14): In view of the strong interest among Chinese investors towards  Malaysian properties, Mah Sing Group Bhd has opened a representative office in Shanghai to expand its reach in China.

The opening ceremony of the office was held last weekend. Datuk Syed Norulzaman Syed Kamarulzaman, the previous Malaysian ambassador to China, represented Mah Sing China at the opening ceremony.

"This a milestone for the group, symbolising our determination in capturing the vast business opportunities in China. Looking ahead, the group will continue to build a strong presence here," said Syed Norulzaman.

Meanwhile, Mah Sing group managing director cum group chief executive Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said the opening of Mah Sing's Shanghai representative office is to "firmly establish Mah Sing as Malaysia's premier lifestyle property developer of choice for Chinese investors".

As a licensed Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) developer, Leong said Mah Sing has the ability to provide MM2H services to its home buyers — and in terms of accessibility, climate, culture, livability, and political stability, Malaysia is an attractive avenue for Chinese property investors.

Located in the Imago Tower, 99 Wuning Road in Putuo District, Shanghai, the representative office shall serve as a property gallery featuring Mah Sing's residential and commercial properties, which has attracted strong interest from Chinese investors.

It is envisaged that the representative office will also serve as a business liaison place between Mah Sing, local regulators and local companies in China to explore the property development industry in China. The office will also be responsible for conducting market and product research, marketing and brand promotion in China.

Some of the projects currently showcased at the China office include Icon Residence Mont'Kiara, M City Jalan Ampang and Icon City Petaling Jaya.
