KUALA LUMPUR: Boutique hotel Alila Bangsar KL will open by early 2017 at a mixed development known as The Establishment, which will come up opposite Menara UOA Bangsar.

The hotel marks the Alila Hotels and Resorts group’s debut in Peninsular Malaysia, vice-president of development Arjan de Boer told a press conference yesterday.

Its Alila Dalit Bay at Tuaran, Sabah, is expected to open in late 2016. Alila Bangsar KL will be a 124-key hotel housed on the top five floors of the 41-storey mixed development.

Facilities include three food and beverage (F&B) establishments, a spa and a rooftop pool where activities such as Champagne movie nights will take place.

De Boer said Alila is tentatively looking at charging from RM460 to RM480 per night for its hotel rooms, with rates to be firmed up closer to the hotel opening.

“We are aiming for average occupancy of 70% per month. Some of our competitors in the area are the KL Hilton and Le Meridien at KL Sentral,” he said.

Joshua Chuah, business development director of project developer Keystone Developments Sdn Bhd, said: “The idea is to make The Establishment a self-sufficient property so that residents won’t have to leave the building to get what they need. For example, they can dine at the F&B outlets which will be open around the clock.”

The Establishment, a 41-storey building with a gross development value (GDV) of RM450 million, is Keystone Developments’ maiden project.

Besides the hotel, it will comprise 646 serviced suites divided into 470 sq ft studios and 830 sq ft 2+1 bedroom units, said Chuah.

Prices have not been firmed up yet as the developer is still working on unit details and payment schemes, he said.

The project will come up on a 1.14 acre freehold tract opposite Menara UOA Bangsar and will feature a bridge to the Bangsar LRT station.

The interior design of the hotel will be undertaken by Distillery Studio, which will draw inspiration from Bangsar and Brickfields’ cultural legacy. The building will be designed by Alt Architects.
Work on the project is expected to start in two months, with completion targeted in 24 to 36 months.
