The document in question — labelled P530 by the court — claimed to be original by Ismee, contains Najib's instructions to SRC's board, including opening accounts at specific banks and the transfer of the company's first RM2 billion loan obtained from Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) in 2011 to banks in Switzerland.
Today, the High Court allowed Najib's application for a stay of proceedings after Pua's lawyer Tan Cheng Leong and the government's lawyer said they have no objections to the application.
“The police have recorded statements from several members of the judiciary and we have not resumed our internal probe [after that], owing to the outcome of the police investigations.”
Clothing manufacturer K&Z's lawyer Chew Chang Min told the theedgemarkets.com today that High Court Judge Datuk Muhammad Jamil Hussin ruled that K&Z had no reason to believe the money originated from unlawful activity.
Today, Najib's lawyer Datuk Mohd Hafarizam Harun told High Court Judge Datuk Rozana Ali Yusoff that Najib filed the stay of proceedings letter dated Dec 24.
"There is still an appeal pending and in order to avoid prejudice on the ministry and smokers, the ministry should consider the request.”
As one of the lawyers representing four of the six accused was involved in a freak accident in Klang earlier this month. Lawyer V Rajagopal is said to have been in a coma since yesterday.
This follows the withdrawal of Najib's application to challenge Naban's appointment by Najib's lawyer Muhammad Farhan Shafee, after Naban's letter of appointment was produced in court and shown to Najib's lawyers.
However, when asked again by appointed prosecutor Datuk V Sithambaram later, the former premier said he was not sure whether he signed it and wants the original meeting minutes to be produced to have it verified.
