KUALA LUMPUR (April 5): WCT Holdings Bhd has bagged a contract from Prasarana Malaysia Bhd for work packages related to construction of the Light Rail Transit Line 3 from Bandar Utama to Johan Setia, worth about RM185.9 million.

The job was awarded to WCT's wholly-owned unit, WCT Bhd (WB), which received a letter of acceptance from Prasarana on Tuesday.

Under the deal, WB will construct the Johan Setia Depot, and other associated construction works related to the 37km-long LRT3, which has 26 stations covering Bandar Utama, Shah Alam and Klang, before terminating at Johan Setia in Klang.

"The Johan Setia Depot under the contract is located next to the Johan Setia LRT station," WCT said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

"The scope of works for the contract generally includes site investigation works, traffic and roads, safety, health and environmental management, site clearance, demolition and earthworks, sub-structure works, drainage works, roadworks, electrical and mechanical works," WCT said.

It said the works are expected to be completed within the next 18 months.

WCT shares rose three sen or 1.44% to settle at RM2.11 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM2.67 billion. — theedgemarkets.com
