An ‘otterly’ swim in a Singapore condominium

SINGAPORE (July 7): Residents of one of the condominiums at Holland Road, Singapore, were delighted to see a group of otters taking a shortcut via the swimming pool at their condominium to get to the other side of the road.

One of the residents, John McAuliffe has shared the 1.11-minute video clip on the Singapore Wildlife Encounters Facebook group which attracts public attention on these smart critters.

In the video, the group of otters which “sneaked” into the condominium were seen jumping in the pool and swimming the length of the pool then running towards the condominium’s main gate to head to the main road.

While some netizens found it entertaining watching the video and some of them even want to find out the location of the condominium, to see these otters. They even described them as “Olympic swimmers”.

However, there are also netizens who raise concerns on health and safety, one of them saying that the otters are going around and wrecking things, and have been troubling the resident for almost 10 years while the authorities did not take any action.

One of the netizens said the same situation happened to his condo before and the management had to thoroughly clean the pool and wait for test results from the government before reopening the pool for residents. The process took over two weeks.
