KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 21): Former Felda chairperson Mohd Isa Samad is a suspect in the purchase of two hotels by Felda Investment Corp (FIC), the MACC confirmed today.

The graft busters’ deputy chief commissioner Azam Baki said this after Isa's lawyer K Kumaraendran argued that Mohd Isa was remanded as a witness, the malaysiakini newsportal reported today.

"I think some people might need to do some criminal study here. When we arrest and remand a person, that shows he is under investigation," Azam told malaysiakini.

"If you have been arrested, you are my suspect," he said.

Mohd Isa was arrested on Aug 15 after having a statement recorded at the MACC headquarters.

He was released yesterday on a bail of RM150,000 in two sureties.

His arrest and remand is due to MACC’s probes into FIC’s purchase of two hotels in Kensington, London and Kuching, Sarawak.

The two properties were alleged to have been purchased at above market prices, causing losses to FIC.
