• There were 6.6 million global active listings on Airbnb at the end of the year, 900,000 more than at the start of the year.

NEW YORK (Feb 15): Vacation rental company Airbnb reported its biggest and most profitable fourth quarter on Tuesday, attributing the growth to strong demand for travel, reported German news agency dpa.

Revenue grew 24% year-over-year to US$19 billion (RM83.3 billion) — Airbnb's highest fourth quarter ever. For the full fiscal year, revenue increased 40% year-over-year to US$8.4 billion.

"Guest demand remained strong throughout 2022. All regions saw significant growth in 2022 as guests increasingly crossed borders and returned to cities on Airbnb," the company said in a statement.

Net income of US$319 million was the company's most profitable fourth quarter ever.

"For the full year 2022, we generated US$1.9 billion of net income — our first profitable full year. This compared to a net loss of US$352 million for the full year 2021."

There were 6.6 million global active listings on Airbnb at the end of the year, 900,000 more than at the start of the year.

"This growth was driven by our global network, where demand drives supply, as well as product innovations that continue to attract new hosts," the company said.
