KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): The 16th International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition Malaysia (Archidex 2015) to be held from August 12 to 15 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is expected to hit a total transaction value of RM1 billion.

“Archidex recorded a transaction value of close to RM1 billion last year, and we're looking at RM1 billion [this year],” said president of CIS Network Sdn Bhd and joint organiser Datuk Vincent Lim at a press conference today.

Lim added that the various activities during the event include product showcases, seminars, trade talks and business meetings. Archidex will provide a trading platform for industry players.

Archidex 2015, which has the theme ‘Advancing Architecture in Asia’, is jointly organised by the Malaysian Institute of Architects and CIS Network, a Malaysian business trade show and lifestyle exhibition organiser. It claims to be Southeast Asia’s leading annual trade event for the professional architecture, interior design and building industry.

According to Lim, there will be more than 550 Malaysian and international exhibitors from 19 countries participating in this year's event, which will also feature five pavilions dedicated to Austria, China, Germany, Singapore and the US.

“This year’s event is getting bigger, with the exhibition space being increased 2.5% to 20,500 sq m. Exhibitors will take up 1,300 booths across nine halls of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, and also an added hall in Mandarin Oriental (hotel).” Lim said. This is also the first time Archidex has been extended to the Mandarin Oriental, due to insufficient space at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

President of the Malaysian Institute of Architects Mohd Zulhemlee An encourages members of the general public to also visit the exhibition and participate in the seminars.
Archidex 2015 is concurrently held with the Eco Building and Design Exhibition (Eco-B) and various architecture events, including the International Architectural Design Conference (Datum: KL), Kuala Lumpur Design Forum (KLDF), Green Building Forum (GBF), Professional Practice Forum (PPF) and trade talks.
