JOHOR BARU: Traders Hotel Puteri Harbour in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor, has undergone a rebranding exercise and is now known as Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour. It is Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd’s latest venture into hotel branding. It is the 10th instalment of the Hotel Jen series which has already been launched in Brisbane, Australia, Beijing and Shenyang in China, Hong Kong, Male in the Maldives, Manila, the Philippines, Penang, and Singapore in the past seven months.
“The opening of Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour, Johor, is extremely important for our company. We have built a strong brand presence in Malaysia and will continue to grow and establish long-term associations with our business partners and stakeholders, ” said Greg Dogan, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, in a statement.
The Hotel Jen brand focuses on independently-minded business and leisure travellers. The brand’s lifestyle essence is inspired by its virtual icon, Jen, a professional hotelier who loves life, travel and the adventure of discovering new places.
“We recognise the growth of travellers with a ‘millennial’ mindset who seek simple pleasures, and the opportunity to indulge in their sense of adventure when travelling for leisure or business.
“True to its branding, the Hotel Jen Puteri Harbour team embraces the changing demands of today’s more independently-minded travellers and we are proud to introduce the Hotel Jen brand to meet the needs of our existing and new customers,” said Dogan.
The hotel now offers a buffet breakfast in the Harbour Cafe, a complimentary room upgrade to the next best room category, late check out until 4pm (subject to availability), shuttle services to Legoland Malaysia, a Johor Premium Outlet VIP coupon book and the opportunity to purchase theme park tickets at a discount price.
Hotel Jen offers 283 guest rooms with a choice of eight room types ranging from the deluxe room to the speciality suite.
The hotel’s general manager, Sigi Bierbaumer, emphasises that Hotel Jen will cater to the changing demands of “millennial” mindset customers while holding that the core of the Hotel Jen brand is the staff.
“The first thing guests will notice as they enter the hotel is the less formal staff uniforms. An informed and friendly service style continues by allowing guests to discover unique recommendations including theme park experiences and bars and restaurants in town. The Hotel Jen team will accommodate the guests and [be] their lifestyle guide at Puteri Harbour, making the guests feel like they are staying with a friend,” Bierbaumer said.
