KUALA LUMPUR: The KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway, also known as the Latar Expressway, linking Kuala Lumpur with Ijok in Kuala Selangor, will see an increase of 10,000 users daily, with the completion of an interchange linking it to Bandar Tasik Puteri in Rawang by 2015.

Amran Amir, CEO of the concession company, KL-Kuala Lumpur Expressway Bhd, said the expressway was registering a maximum average of 60,000 traffic users, especially during weekends.

“The Bandar Tasik Puteri interchange, which will connect one of the biggest residential townships in Selangor to the expressway, will be the catalyst for Latar Expressway in terms of increasing traffic.

“This is because the township’s population is expected to reach 120,000 by 2028,” he told Bernama.

Amran said the Bandar Tasik Puteri township developer has appointed KL-Kuala Lumpur Expressway to build the interchange.

He said there will be many more developments coming up in the future, taking advantage of the convenience and strategic connectivity of Latar Expressway to major routes and towns.

“Latar is directly connected to the Guthrie Corridor Expressway and the North-South Expressway.

“In future, Latar will also have a direct link to the West Coast Expressway once it is completed by 2019 and will provide direct and free flow access to the north up to Taiping,” he said.

The West Coast Expressway project is to be undertaken by West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Kumpulan Europlus Bhd.
Amran said the expressway will serve as another catalyst for Latar, which will see an increase in traffic volume.

“Toll collection and traffic volume on Latar Expressway have been recording positive growth since it opened to the public in 2011,” he added.  — Bernama
