PETALING JAYA (August 8): The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) will redevelop the Lembah Subang 1 People's Housing Project (PPR) next year, said its minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

Bernama reports that she said a new committee, headed by Lembah Jaya state assemblyman Haniza Mohamed Talha would monitor the redevelopment project, which involved 3,004 units in the eight housing blocks.

“Though the flats are about 18 years old, they have deteriorated faster than they should due to inefficient management.

"We are looking into various models and concepts to provide more comfortable homes according to the new National Housing Policy scheduled to be released in September," she told the media after meeting Lembah Subang 1 PPR residents today.

The news agency quoted Zuraida, who said the ministry had implemented short-term programmes, to repair elevators, and to manage water, waste, and security.

To deal with PPR residents’ issues, she urged for the establishment of a residents’ committee of 10 members, to address concerns.
