PETALING JAYA (Sept 19): A restaurant near Vista Mutiara condominium shift to another location after several months of protests by residents.
According to a report from the Star today, the restaurant owner asked residents to give him until October to move out and showed them a tenancy agreement he signed with the owner of the new location as proof of his intention to vacate.
Kepong Community Service Centre head Yee Poh Ping Yee, speaking on behalf of residents, said they were willing to give him the extra time requested.
Residents had complained that the restaurant caused traffic congestion and contributed to minor accidents.
Yee said: “Customers of the restaurant tend to park haphazardly along the road, creating a blindspot which is dangerous for motorists.”
The restaurant was also located on government land.
The Federal Territory Land and Mines Department issued a notice dated Aug 23 to vacate the site within 14 days or by Sept 6 for violating Section 425 (1) of the National Land Code 1965.
