KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 27): The city’s skyline is all set to change again -- Bukit Bintang will be the location of the tallest residential tower in Malaysia.

According to a report by The Star today, the 68-storey (330m) IBN Bukit Bintang mixed development project will comprise 339 smart homes and 268 five-star hotel rooms, with the build-ups ranging from 434 sq ft to 1,052 sq ft.

IBN Bukit Bintang is a joint venture between IBN Corp and landowner KKH Pavilion Development Sdn Bhd. The project is expected to be “fully operational by October 2023”.

“My formula is that a good project must be designed with aesthetic elements, using the best technology and prioritising the needs of the occupants,” IBN Corp Ltd director Datuk Seri Michael Yang said at the launch of the project’s sales gallery in Jalan Berangan in Kuala Lumpur recently.

He also added that IBN Corp focused on real estate tourism with its “own vision and mission to be successful”, reported the English daily.

Meanwhile, IBN Bukit Bintang development director Megat Khalil Izzuddin Shah said prices will “start from RM2,000 per sq ft, which is low compared to other properties in the Golden Triangle. I would say it is the best deal.”

“We are receiving good feedback for our project.

“We are very confident we will continue to garner the public’s interest, especially with the grand opening of our sales gallery, which will be open daily from 9am until 9pm,” he added.

Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad, who officiated the event, said he has to make sure “all projects in Kuala Lumpur met the international standards of quality, design and services in order to make the capital attractive to international tourists, investors and business communities”.

Meanwhile, it was reported on Tuesday that the ongoing construction of Merdeka 118 Tower is at level 78, which makes it about two thirds completed. It is expected to top out by mid-next year.

The iconic tower, which is phase 1 of Merdeka 118, offers 83 floors of office space of about 20,000 sq ft per floor and will have under-floor air-conditioning among other features. The 635m tower will overlook two of Malaysia’s national landmarks -- Stadium Negara and Stadium Merdeka.

Upon completion, Merdeka 118 will have a floor area size of over 3 million sq ft comprising 1.65 million sq ft of net lettable Grade-A office space as well as three premium residential towers.

The project also boasts the PNB Observation Deck which is the highest viewing deck in Southeast Asia. It will also house the only Park Hyatt Hotel in Malaysia.
