KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): Four K-pop stars have tested negative for Covid-19 infection after visiting Itaewon, The Korea Times reported on Tuesday.

The Seoul suburb well known for its bars, clubs and nightlife has been reported to be the location of another Covid-19 outbreak in recent weeks in South Korea.

The country experienced a significant rise in infections after a 29-year-old man now identified as a super spreader tested positive after visiting up to five clubs and bars in Itaewon in earlier this month.

Reuters reported that the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that as of Monday, 170 cases have been traced to the Itaewon outbreak, with several hundreds in self isolation.

South Korean media reported that BTS’ Jungkook, Jaehyun of NCT, Mingyu of Seventeen and Cha Eun-woo of Astro went to a restaurant and two different bars in Itaewon on April 25.

The Korea Times report stated that the agencies representing the four have “confirmed” their trips to Itaewon “and apologised for their failure to comply with the social distancing campaign”.

They also clarified that the singers “did not visit specific bars and clubs where the cluster infection occurred and tested negative for the virus”.

The seven-member BTS has suspended their world tour over coronavirus concerns last month.
