PIESTANY (Nov 2): The final prototype of the flying car – AirCar – has completed its first flight on Oct 29, 2020 at Piestany Airport, Slovakia.

According to Auto Evolution’s report, the maiden flight included two takeoffs and two landings, all four successful.

The Slovakian company, Klein Vision Ltd, unveiled the flying car to the public last year at China International Import Expo.

This marked a milestone for Klein Vision, and the company is confident in delivering the first production model within the next six months.

A media statement by Klein Vision said AirCar has wings on both sides. It can change from vehicle mode to flying mode in under three minutes.

This flying vehicle is the fifth prototype by Klein Vision, and is designed by Aeromobil's original inventor and designer Stefan Klein, who is also the founder of Klein Vision.

The developer said it could be an ideal choice for leisure and self-driving journeys, as well as commercial taxis in the future, reported Tech Times.

However, the price details have yet to be announced. The company is also looking at producing a four-seater AirCar.

Boosted with a BMW 1.6l engine, the flying car has a power output of 140hp and is capable of travelling up to 1,000 km in one flight session.

The recent test fly model is a two-seater AirCar which weighs only 2,425lb (about 1,100kg) and is capable of carrying up to 440lb (about 200kg) per flight, said Tech Times report.
