Malaysia administered 164,282 Covid-19 doses on June 19, says JKJAV

KUALA LUMPUR (June 20): The number of daily Covid-19 doses administered throughout the country dropped slightly to 164,282 yesterday (June 19) from 180,066 recorded in the previous day.

Based on the latest data from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV), 128,400 individuals received their first dose yesterday while the remaining 35,882 received their second jab.

The seven-day moving average of daily doses given stood at 187,586.

In total, 5.68 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far, with 1.59 million people having been fully vaccinated.

In June alone, Malaysia has administered 2.67 million doses so far, representing 46.99% of the total doses delivered to recipients across the nation to date.

Kuala Lumpur remained as the state with the highest number of individuals who have received their first dose yesterday at 697,411, followed by Selangor (626,510), Sarawak (570,994), Johor (369,859) and Sabah (316,881).

Meanwhile, Selangor saw 207,077 individuals completing their second dose of vaccination yesterday, followed by Sarawak (181,690), Johor (161,082), Perak (147,250) and Sabah (131,966).

Yesterday, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the Bukit Jalil National Stadium vaccination centre (PPV) was expected to start operations from Monday (June 21) with a capacity to administer up to 10,000 doses per day.

Reezal said the large-scale PPV would enable more people, especially those in the Klang Valley, to get vaccinated, with a focus on people aged 40 and below.
 
Malaysia registered a decline in daily Covid-19 cases to 5,911 yesterday, from 6,440 in the previous day, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 691,115.

A total of 72 Covid-19-related deaths were reported, raising total fatalities in the country to 4,348.

The number of patients in intensive care units declined to 886, of whom 441 were on ventilators.
