KUALA LUMPUR (March 1): The retail price of RON97 fuel will be 5 sen higher for the week ending March 8, 2019, to RM2.43 per litre from RM2.38 per litre, while the prices of RON95 and diesel will be maintained at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre respectively.

In a statement, the Ministry of Finance pointed out that the retail price of RON95 has been fixed at a lower rate of RM2.08 per litre from RM2.20 per litre, following the Cabinet's decision to cap it at RM2.08.

It said the lowering of the retail price for RON95 is in line with the government's efforts to lower the people's living cost.

"Based on calculations using the automated pricing mechanism (APM) formula, the retail price of RON95 and diesel for the period of March 2 to March 8 was supposed to be RM2.13 per litre and RM2.38 per litre respectively.

"Nevertheless, the retail prices of RON95 and diesel for the above period have been fixed at RM2.08 per litre and RM2.18 per litre," it said.
