Parliament debates motion on Najib breaking Felda white paper embargo

KUALA LUMPUR (April 11): Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Liew Vui Keong tabled a motion in the Dewan Rakyat today to have former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee for breaking the embargo on the FELDA White Paper.

In tabling the motion before Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming, he said the White Paper tabled in the House yesterday carried an embargo of 11.30 am on April 10 but Najib had uploaded it onto social media at 5.39 pm on April 9.

“This august House views with grave concern the action of the Honourable MP for Pekan who has breached the embargo on the White Paper on ‘Towards the Sustainability of FELDA’.

“The action of the Honourable MP for Pekan is contrary to Standing Order 95A and is held as contempt of the House. Hence, it is agreed that the Honourable MP for Pekan should be referred to the Rights and Privileges Committee,” he said.

The House allowed debate on the motion.
