i-City awarded MYTQA certificate

SHAH ALAM (June 28): The i-City theme park in Seksyen 7 has become the third tourist attraction in Selangor to be awarded the Malaysia Tourism Quality Assurance (MyTQA) certificate.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry deputy secretary-general (management), Datuk Yean Yoke Heng, said yesterday that the park had met all seven conditions with regard to information (availability), first impression, pulling power, facilities, staff, security and sustainable practices.

The other two destinations with the certificate valid for three years are Sunway Pyramid shopping mall in Petaling Jaya and ‘Farm in The City’ animal park in Seri Kembangan.

“i-City is also the 39th destination in Malaysia with the recognition. The other places include Langkawi Skycab, The Top Komtar, Menara Taming Sari and Galeria Perdana," said Yean at a press conference after the launch of i-City’s new draw, Snow Village.

Also known as the City of Digital Lights, the park was opened in stages since December 2009 and has a waterpark, the Trick and Art interactive museum, Red Carpet2 wax museum and more.

i-Berhad deputy chairman, Datuk Eu Hong Chew, said i-City is developing in line with the Selangor government’s vision to become a smart state by 2025.

He also said: “To support Visit Malaysia Year 2020, we introduced Snow Village which allows visitors to experience -8 degrees Celsius weather in a tropical country.”
