KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Abd Karim Munisar has resigned as chairman of both Kumpulan Hartanah Selangor Bhd (KHSB) and Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd (KPSB), the groups announced to Bursa Malaysia separately on Friday, Mar 18. Abd Karim at the same time resigned as a non-independent and non-executive director of KHSB.

The 61-year-old — who is currently a director of Taliworks Corporation Bhd — served in the civil service, culminating in his role as president of the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council from Apr 2, 2003 to Aug 15, 2004.

Before that, he served as district officer cum acting president of the Sepang District Council from 1998-2003, and as president of the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council from 1992-1996.

Prior to that, he was chief assistant state secretary of Selangor (Local Authority Division) in 1987; deputy director of Klang Valley Planning Secretariat in the Prime Minister's Department in 1982; and chief assistant district officer 1 (land) of Kuantan District Office and chief assistant state secretary of Pahang (housing division) in 1980.

From 1975 to 1980, he had served various districts in Perak in several capacities:  assistant district officer, Kinta; chairman of the Kinta District Council; assistant district officer 1, Kampar and chairman of Kampar/Gopeng Municipal Council. He was assistant director at the Ministry of Finance in 1974.

Replacing Abd Karim in all those capacities is Raja Idris Raja Kamarudin, 58. The British national is currently a director/consultant of Rototype International in the UK, as well as a consultant of Significant Technologies Sdn Bhd and Markfield Institute of Higher Education in Leicestershire.

From 2004 to 2006, he was managing director of Glory Setup Sdn Bhd and executive chairman of Virgo Travel & Tours Sdn Bhd.

Prior to that, Raja Idris was group executive director of TDM Bhd from 2000 to 2004; vice president of information and communication network at Siemens Malaysia Sdn Bhd from 1998 to 2000; non-executive director of Siemens Multimedia Sdn Bhd from 1997 to 2000; executive director of SNI Network (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd from 1995 to 1998; and managing director of Nixdorf Computers Malaysia Sdn Bhd from 1994 to 1995.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and Institute for the Management of Information Systems, both based in the UK.
