KUALA LUMPUR: Battersea Power Station Development Co said there is strong progress in its London-only sales programme for the 254 houses at the Battersea Power Station in London.

“In the first week of sales, reservations were taken for 95% of the properties with many buyers intending to be owner-occupier of the larger than average sized units with high specification interiors.

“Some 75% of the purchasers for Phase 2 are UK residents,” the company said in a statement yesterday.

Battersea Project Holding Co chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin said the company is pleased with the residential sales at the power station.

“The sale of these unique homes underpins the restoration of the Grade II listed power station and is a key milestone in opening up the London landmark to the public. The northern line extension to the power station is also on track and the  contract award for the main works is expected in early July 2014,” he said.

Preliminary on-site works for the infrastructure serving the project are expected to commence towards the end of this year with the main works expected to begin in spring 2015. — Bernama
