KUALA LUMPUR: Over 200 guests from the property, media and advertising industries witnessed the launch of The Edge Communications Sdn Bhd’s property portal
theedgeproperty.com
at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Bukit Kiara on Sept 28.

“There are already a number of websites specialising in real estate listings in the country,” said The Edge Communications’ editor-in-chief Ho Kay Tat. “But what will make us stand out from them is that the edgeproperty.com will combine today’s news today with classified listings and other useful information.” He also thanked the launch partners namely, Maybank Maxihome, Island & Peninsular, Mah Sing, S P Setia, Sime Darby Property, Sunrise and Sunway City.

Edward Stanislaus, director of advertising and marketing of The Edge Communications, gave a brief overview of the features of the website. Besides in-depth articles, the portal will also include breaking news, timely market data, research stories, issues and analysis

These are complemented by an equally comprehensive listing of real-time hot deals – the latest properties, both for sale and rent. “The real-time hot deals feature is basically a micro-tracking of property values and we think this will be of great interest to viewers simply because the government’s official transaction data is only available about three months or so after the sales and purchase agreement is signed,” shared executive editor for property and retailing, Au Foong Yee. “By which time of course, the value of a property could have changed as time is of the essence in any form of investment.”

The portal with the tagline “everything property” will go a long way in catering to the die-hard property investor as well as those new to the property market.

The event ended with a special performance by The Banshees, a local dance troupe which performed two tribal bellydance numbers. This fusion dance amalgamates modern dances like hip hop and breakdance with Egyptian or Cabaret belly dance along with ethnic forms such as Flamenco, Kathak, Bhangra and Balinese.
