Five trading hubs for locally produced construction material, says Shaziman

BANGI: The Works Ministry is expected to set up five trading hubs to market construction material produced by local entrepreneurs said its Minister Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor.

The objective of setting up such hubs was to develop and encourage the local entrepreneurs to venture into the professional construction material market, he said. Shaziman said the Bumiputra Development division of the ministry was in the process of identifying suitable locations for setting up the hubs.

"Currently there are five such hubs located in Kedah, Kelantan, Selangor, Johor and Melaka. Our aim to see every state have one hub," he told reporters after visiting the Bina Integrated Industries Sdn Bhd factory, a paint manufacturing company, here on May 6.

Shaziman said there were 500 companies registered with the ministry and last year, 100 among them registered sales of more than RM1 million which was a 30% increase compared with the 2008 achievement of 70 companies. -- Bernama
